    km 5035 copy quality help

i have a very light image and white banding on one of my km 5035s. i have replaced the drum and developer units and the transfer roller. it seems that when i open and close the door on the left side of the copier ill get one good copy and then terrible copys so i think its a transfer problem. the connection to the transfer roller contacts seems fine but i still have a problem. thanks in advance for the help.

Do internal test prints look like crap also? are you using OEM supplies? I wonder if you have a Laser problem?

Glen, check the female connector inside the copier where the transfer roller connection inserts when you close the door. We had one bent and it caused us great grief before we found it. Since you mentioned that when you open and close the left cover it will give you a good copy, I thought that this might be associated to the problem we had. Good luck

Forgot about that one, thanks. There was a fix for uneven image a few versions ago.

check the ground spring on the duplex unit. If its not set correct sometimes this is the cause. ????? I know but I had thing and when I reset the spring ground it worked. lower left corner on duplex unit.

have you looked at the bushings of the transfer roller what your looking for is the spring missing and the lock part of the bushing if the break off it causes uneven pressure on the drum.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.

                  km 5035 copy

                  Hey glenn!

I had the exact same problem with a 4035, I replaced several parts but the problem was at the transfer roller, check on both ends there should be one spring on each side with a black plastic, on parts manual look for fig 7 item # 37 ( 2BL17060 BUSH TRANS ROLLER) and # 38 (2BL17160 SPRING TRANS R) # 39 (2BL17070 SPRING TRANS L) sometimes the spring is missing or the bush trans plastic is broken, then transfer roller make poor contact with drum.

Or you can order the whole transfer unit and replace it.

                  Good luck buddy.
