The Main board is usually responsible for this problem, The F-Dimm can also cause this problem as well as the Flash IC U13. You can order the F-Dimm from Kyocera, If U-13 is bad/corrupt it will require a repair by a facility with ROM burning capabilities and surface mount equipment as well.If this machine does not get past a certain point in its boot procedure you will not be able to upgrade the firmware. Hope this helps.

I tried updating the firmware and it did not work (not so sure if I did it right or not) The firmware that I bought had these files in it

        -initrd.bin
        -ppcboot.bin
        -rootdiskimage.cramfs
        -setupdiskimage.cramfs
        -VERDEF
        -zImage.kmmfp

now let me see if I got this right, am supposed to drag and drop all of these files onto the compact flash and then install it in the printer and then turn it on? or should I just drag and drop the folder containing them and put it on the compact flash?

I prefer to Copy/Paste the files onto the compact flashcard... We have had issues in the past where dragging/dropping has negative effects (not sure how or why). The firmware files do not need to be in a folder on the Compact Flashcard...

I am not sure if those are the correct files ...... BUT !!!

COPY AND PASTE the files ... this works a lot better for me than doing a drag and drop .....

The compact flash needs to be formatted in a KM to set the correct file structure, then copy and paste the correct files into the ROOT of the CF; put the CF in the KM and turn the unit on. When the files are all up-dated, turn the unit off and remove the CF.
