CS-4050 fax problems: Nuvox phone provider.

I have posted about this before, but will try again with more info. I have a customer with a CS-4050 ( same as KM-4050), with a fax system installed. For a while, when receiving faxes, the machine showed an error code for the hard drive. Also, the faxes would often come out garbled, with text looking like bar codes or sections of the page completely blank, and sometimes a second page prints out with nothing on it but 2 asterisks. I tried firmware because of the bulletin about faxes locking up the machine. I also replaced
the fax system and the hard drive, but they are still reporting problems. They are using Nuvox as a phone provider. Has anyone seen fax problems with Nuvox? Has anyone seen these kinds of problems before? If so, PLEASE help. I am running out of options.

I had a very similar problem with two separate Sharp FO-series fax machines, and both times it was phone company related (Verizon in my cases). If I remember correctly, there was excessive noise in the fax lines, and from what the customers told me, the fix was made at the pole in one case, and I think a repair at a phone company 'switching station' (whatever that is) in the other case. I never got an error code from these machines, but the odd images that you describe are pretty much exactly what I was experiencing.

I have had issues with all the newer fax systems when using IP Phone systems.

Does it happen every time?
