KM-2530 time for maintenance

Called out to look at a this machine. It is working but making splotchy copies/prints and displaying the "Time for Maintenance" on the panel. I cleaned the corona wire and the rotary scrubber sponge that contacts the drum. There are striped and blotched areas of toner baked on the drum. I know these are causing the poor print quality. Is there a safe way to clean the drum.. ie iso. alcohol or anything else.. or will this make things worse?

Is there a reset to turn off the maint. display or is this a call for the BIG ONE for the warranty that must be done?

I don't happen to have a manual for this unit..

If it's time for a service get a maintenance kit (MK-705) and all will be sweet.

As far as the toner on the drum, put 11x17 paper in bypass hit asterisk and drum refresh this will rub the toner off it may take a time or two. also it will make an annoying sound. Sim 203 or 204 reset maintenance counter. Also check your toner only the generic (pirate) toner does this, that I have seen.

first 1087 1087 set developer
if not run
check toner hopper solenoid , gear and belt

if the copy quality is still good, you can run sim 251 and clear the count and the message will go away. you can also set sim 250 to 0 and the message will never show again.
