    New Task Alfa machnines

Is it just me or do these look like Ricoh boxes to you?

Yeah, they remind me of Ricoh machines, but the maintenance modes are definitely Kyocera, along with the Engrish in the service manual.

You know they aren't Ricoh....these can actually make it pm to pm.
Although the doc feed rollers and p/u rollers look Ricoh like.

I saw a canon that reminded me of the 255/305.

The FS-C1020MFP is a rebranded Ricoh.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

if you're refering to the fs-c8020/8025, then yes, they do look richo-ish with 'bolt on'-finisher, bridge unit and transport/output the opposite way of 'normal' kyo. but thats all . the 'consumeable change by customers'-idea looks very promising, and i like the way the drum and dev are sequred all the way until the units are pushed in. although i haven't seen any specks yet, i'm guessing opc-drum and 150000 'life', and no 'wice-core'/hypas. should also be bloody cheap :P . looking forward to all kyo-releases this year! very interesting year, i may say. 70page color non-toshiba kyos? oh, yes! and fiery? :P

That's exactly what I thought. This is a freakin' Ricoh. I hope this isn't an omen of what future TASKalfas will look like. As much as I think Kyocera is the greatest my two main quips for this series are:

                  1. I can see the customer knocking off the finisher and/or bridge unit while removing a jam since those aren't bolted down. Also, which looking for a jam, what's stopping them from removing the drum and developer units?

                  2. The "user fixable" test chart for correcting registration and margin problems. Yeah right. Customers have a hard enough time cleaning the darn slit glass when it comes to lines or actually looking for jammed papers where the machines tells them to. Yeah, my dispatchers really have the time and patience for that.

i do understand your doubts, but this is no different from cheap'o lexmark, xerox, oki or hp....customers change drum and dev units on those too. this is just another angle/thought from kyo than what they have done so far. they are going to be cheap to buy, and not need techs to do simple work. and as far as i see, they are well thought out. i'm more afraid of how much functionality and overall quality they have sacrificed to make these machines as cheap as possible.

as for looks, i kind of like the rounded white design. but display should have been 7 inch.

and in case you havent seen the future plans: don't worry....these machines look nothing like the rest of the coming new line of color machines. they are more in line with current 250ci-552ci, but with new engine (they say), fiery rip option and option large side deck like the old 8030/6030/820/620.
