    copystar 2550 is stuttering.

I have a cs2550 that makes a chattering sound and "stutters" making it appear to have lines in the copy. During the coping it seems to stop for a tiny fraction of a second which results in letters being printed on top of each other forming what appears as a line.

Check the scanner mirror holders exactly where they ride on the scanner rails. Each one (4 total) has a small black square plastic tab attatched to help the scanner ride smoothly. I had this issue awhile back and one of the small tabs had fallen off. another possibility would be scan motor.. Move the scanner by hand ( GENTLY and SLOWLY or the scan cables will pop off) and examine where the mirror carriages meet the scanner rails..

First do a print out from service mode to confirm or disprove that the scanner is where your trouble is.It could also be drum are/paper feed issues.
