    FS-C8500 Slow Printing

I have a FS-C8500 that is slow when printing multiple sets. The processing time seems to be fine, but it pauses between each set before continuing to print. This happens whether the sets are large, or only a couple pages. The customer is printing from Word 2003, and I made sure they had the "collate" option unchecked. The network and workstations are tightly secured, so I have not been able to test different emulations yet. They are using KX ver 5.0. Any ideas before I try to convince their IT to let me start messing around on their network?

Update the last firmware version and use the last KX driver v5.2.1108g and put the printer and the driver in PCL6 emulation,

    Bye !

I updated the firmware, but I will update the driver, switch it to PCL6, and give it a try. Thanks!

The customer is printing a lot of large packets (approx. 150 pages, 8-9Mb). The job processes in a reasonable amount of time, and the first ten or so pages print off at full speed. The next 5-10 sheets print with a brief pause between each, so the printer is running at about half speed. After those sheets print off, the printer will pause for about 10 seconds before starting to print again, at full speed. And the cycle starts anew. Averaged over the entire job, the printer is running at about 1/3 speed, with all the pausing.

I have firmware V.5 installed, print drivers are now at V.5.2, and I have attempted printing on PCL5c, PCL XL, and KPDL emulations. I also installed the max (2Gb) of memory for the device. There was no noticeable difference. They are printing over their network to a shared driver on the server, so I also attempted to print the document directly from the server, to eliminate any potential issues with the workstation. However, the pauses in printing happen even after the job has completely spooled, and has left the server.

Tech Support suggested adding the extra memory, and creating a ram disk. Unlike other printers I have set up with ram disk, there is no option in the menus, or in the driver for ram disk. Am I missing something? Is it not available for this model? Do I need a HDD or Flash Drive installed?

Absolutely ANY ideas on this are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
