You are having multiple characters entered for a single key press? Does this happen only when using the key pad, or also the on-screen keyboard? Take the operation panel apart. The key pad keys are all molded together. Make sure that none of those little plastic bars holding them together are broken.

if your talking about the numeric key pad, someone spileed coffe on it. if you r talking about the lcd then update firmware if its not the op panel after you rip it apart. recalibrate the lcd too.
