    KM-5050 Scanning issues

I recenetly have been tasked to setup Scan to SMB, Scan to FTP & Scan to Email on a KM5050. Now I have been able to get the Scan to SMB to work just fine.

However, the scan to email is throwing up a 1104 code and I looked that up and found this: No recipient address. Enter E-mail address correctly

I clearly entered the email in correctly, because its my email. Anyone else know what I am missing here?

Now for the Scan to FTP, this is usually the most straightforward user friendly way to scan for people who can't setup the above. However, I installed the File Scanner Utility and setup a file folder and selected it within the utility as well as gave the folder a number and then punched the corresponding information into the backend of the Kyocera machine. Now I am getting a code of 2102 which i found means the following:

    2101, 2102, 2201, 2202, 2203, 3101
The network cable is disconnected or the hub that it is connected to is not operating Properly. Check the cable and the hub. Otherwise, the server name or the host name of the SMTP server is not set correctly. Use Command center and register the SMTP server name and host name correctly.

Now im not sure what 2102 and FTP have to do with each other because obviously the cable is plugged in because Scan to SMB is working and im not sure why or how SMTP is has anything to do with FTP.

What kind of email service are you using? Internal email like exchange or external like yahoo?

Are you using a proper email address to send the emails from when you scan them? I've had it when the admin will delete some email addresses and one will be a email address that the km5050 will be using to send the scans to all the users email addresses.

I dont believe i understand what your saying. There is an email dedicated for the equipment called Digital_File@so&so.com thats the email that is sending. When I try to send to any email address I get an 1104 telling me I put the email address in wrong which i believe entering the email address what be anything@anything.com

Do you, for this dedicated email address have a user name and password that you entered into the authentication portion of the copier?

put the ip address of the scanner/printer into a web browser on the network. login into the scanning portion, and scanning to email. you'll have something in there for a user name, password, email server possibly, and you can test there if it authenticates.

for the scanner file to work in the command center use the numer without the zeroes for the path. Configure the scanner file with the zeroes

                    Hey,

In your web browser go to the ip address of your KM5050.

                    Advanced Tab
                    TCP/IP > General
enter the IP address of DNS Servers (primary and secondary)
                    submit to apply changes.
Restart the copier for changes to take effect

When rebooted go back in the web browser interface
                    advanced tab
                    SMTP>General
Make sure the SMTP protocol is ON
                    port number : 25
SMTP servername : User the IP address and not DNS name
                    authentication n
                    Other
Username : (applicable to the email address the copier is sending from)
                    Password (as above)

Test (this will test the suthentication of the above info)

sender address : Enter the email addy that is setup for above

                    Click on the scanner tab
                    FTP
Make sure that it is switched on. Default port for this is :21

Hope this helps. It just tested the KM2560 and it worked.

Do you have a sender address, ie: scans@ copier.com. You can use any name you like as long as it is in valid email format. Also I always use the mailserver ip address, not the name, Check your dns amd smpt protocol is on,

nvm what the machine is reporting, you may be chasing your own tail with no end insight. (I did )

To setup scan to email with and post falcon 3:

                          1. find out what email server the client is using. Is authentication required? fill in the neccesary info and test.
                          2. fill in sender address.
                          3. under scanner(command centre), fill in subject line for email otherwise scans will be filtered as spam.
                          4. check for DNS (as mentioned above) settings on one of the workstations, they do matter.
