G'day, another slow cloudy day thought I do some digging. Got some ideas &questions about print ratio
First of all, i couldnt find any info regarding this particular topic, if anyone knows or its hidden in KMA online training pls kindly redirect me wherever appropriate.
I went back to dig up u147 and found something regarding u464 in the older Voyager QA's. Uncontrolled background and toner droppings has been a long time issue with KM (I'm guessing toner technology across brands is similar), and there has been more than few QA regarding this issue with different models (but not that many to be of citrous flavor). In this particular article it briefly discussed the common problem as result of high or low print ratios.
What it points out is that when print ratio is close to the threshold value (u464, Set Internal CalibPrint rate, default 20%), the engine has difficulty calibrating because the ratio isnt registered as high ratio. Its like 4.5Vdc is the gray area of logic 1.
In short, >20% is needed to trigger calibration.
From I've accumulated in the field, the avg print ratio is 2 to 6%, high is 11 or 12%. Base on 500ci manual, default is 20% (10% on halfspeed, do not know this feature). So the real challenge for the machine was lack of calibration? Would I be correct in setting [Int calibprint rate = 4], for a low volume client whose range is 2 to 6? The other side of the coin would be calibration taking place more often.
How does this u464 printrate relate to u147 "upperlimit" value? The upper limit is 3.5% default, but what is the 3.5% of?
Reference: KMA, Knowledge Base/QA, #8420/ 2FZ-0098
edit: portion of the document talks about first 10 prints and halfspeed, appreciate any insight on these terms..
edit2: Firmware v11 for saturn addressed most of the issue, this was to help me understand the tweaking options.
