Looks like something is wrong with the developing unit. Replace the process unit.

Is this a new install? Did you replace the toner cartridge, or the entire developing section? Changing the toner by itself does not often resolve any print quality issues.

Unfortunately, you do not have a lot of options with this device. Remove the developing assembly, and ensure that there is toner evenly distributed across the length of the mag roller. If not, try to cycle the power off and on a few times, and let it run through the warm-up cycle. There is a drum refresh mode you can try with this device, but I don't believe there is a developer refresh.

If there is plenty of toner on the mag roller, be sure that the developing unit is seating fully and properly in the machine. The service manual also tells you to check the transfer roller, but I can't tell you exactly what to look for there. Just make sure that it is also seated in the proper position and check for any other obvious problems.

If you have checked the developing and drum assemblies, and don't find an issue, try printing a completely black page. What does the blank area look like? If the black fades slowly away, that normally indicates a problem with the toner being applied to the drum (drum or developing unit). If the blank area has clear, straight edges, you may have to check the laser unit.

Humid or thick paper can also cause light print, but it will not normally cause blank areas unless the paper is severely curled, or far out of spec. However, from the description you have given, I believe you will find your problem somewhere in the developing unit. Hope this helps!
