    km 4050 unable to staple

The machine displays that the staple function is not accessible. I'm not familiar with this machine I'm a canon guy. What I can tell is that the machine doesn't sort to the tray that moves up and down, this tray does not move when the machine is turned on or when the sorter is undocked from the machine. It seams to be an error that is by-passing this feature but i dont know where to look or how to reset it.

Sounds like the stapler has gone off line. Make sure there are no jammed up staples in the stapler and run a 906 reset. To do so, hit the status key on the upper left of the op panel, using the number pad type in 10871087 and screen will change to maint. mode. Type in 906 start, highlight execute on the touch screen and start again. The machine should tell you to cycle power at this point.

Had the same issue with a 5050 and the 3000 sheet finisher. Once I did the reset with 906 the stapler started to work partially. The staples are not being entirely closed. The points of the staples are forming a v shape instead of laying flat against the back of the stack of papers. Leaving nice sharp little razor points to poke fingers. Any ideas on what to try with this. I have worked on Mita/Kyocera products for twenty plus years. And this is the first time I've run into a stapler problem.

Recently, had a 300i with a stapling issue, clinched o.k., but every time it changed staple sheets it would misfire and jam. Put three hours into trying to fix the staple unit until it would not clinch a single staple. Save yourself the hassle and order up the staple unit.
