Kyocera 5050i SMTP error, cannot get it to scan SMB

    KM5050i 350K clicks
customer uses Earthlink (3rd party web host) for email. Earthlink made changes Sept 31st MFP falls off... I am trying to get them to scan to folder now (SMB) followed directions to the Tee and still it is (Defaulting to Email) and erroring out. Sometimes I get an 1101, 1102, etc..
1101 Error: Host name SMTP sever name is not set.
    Error SMTP server name.
    Register [SMTP Server Name] in
    [Advanced]-[SMTP] -[General] in
    COMMAND CENTER.
1102 Error: User/Password User ID for the authentication
    is not entered or entered
    wrongly.
    Wrong authentication password
    is entered.
Enter the correct user ID/password for
    authentication at [Advance] in COMMAND
    CENTER.
Enter the password of [Login User Name] of
the [POP3] page or the [SMTP] page correctly.

How do I get this machine o NOT try to send via email?
I want only folder but it appears to not have a setting anywhere that will allow you to change transmit default to FOLDER.

I also tried to delete the users email address (but keep all other info) on command center and then after "Submit" and "reboot" the users name doesnt show up on the address book. The quick key or "one touch" key is grayed out.

FYI Last week there was an error CF00 and prior to this there was a problem where they couldn't print couldn't scan. - I got the device up and running, backed up the addressbook and data, reset the NIC and reformatted HDD. All was well accept still not able to scan.

    Sorry so wordy.

Max is right, although if they are wanting to use both you can create seperate address book items for SMB and Email even if it's the same person.

Also remember, 1101 & 1102 are error codes not only for email, but for SMB as well. For SMB, 1101 means the device was unable to find the destination computer. 1102 means it was unable to authenticate with the destination computer.

If I recall, these devices allow for SSL security, as well. So if you are truly unable to get SMB or their earthlink email to work, you could try to route their email through another free email provider like gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc. I haven't attempted to use these services on any of the new devices yet, so it might be a bit of trial and error.

As far as the names being grayed out: the one-touch keys are directed at a specific type of communication. So if you set up a one touch to go to Joe's email, and you delete the email address from Joe's contact info in the address book, that one-touch is pointing to something that doesn't exist anymore. If the names aren't appearing in the address book at all anymore, you may have to go through and re-do the contacts completely. (and hope you don't have a few hundred to re-enter)
