    KM 2560 Program Loading

Hi Guys, had this problem on a 2560 for ages, never realy got to the bottom of it.

Basicly when updating the firmware it failed and from then on shows program loading, it goes through the motions but sticks on this. we have tried dimms, controll panels, boot switches under control panel. checked connections, hdd's the lot.

Iv got a feeling that if it would just let me load the firmware again it will work. only problem is it wont boot from a firmware card.

Has anyone got any ideas on this?

Any help atall will be appreciated.

    Cheers

When a firmware update fails you have to call Kyocera. After answering a lot of questions they can supply you with a special file to let the machine boot again. Don't know exactly the procedure for the 2560.

I would try firmware 2.2. This sounds familiar to a prob one of our techs had with a 3060. There are 2 different kinds of op panels for these models. Kyocera for awhile had a different version of firmware depending on the type of op panel you had. We loaded the wrong firmware and had the same problem you're having. That's why I suggest going with 2.2. It's lower but it works with the older version control panel.

If your company is authorized with Kyocera they should help you. They did us.

Flip sw under op panel turn on wait about two minutes, panel led will blink at different speeds then it will finally stop blinking, wait and be patient this pre boot sequence must complete. Then have a USB drive pre-loaded with Firmware 2.20D. Plug into front panel, return swithh to normal turn machine on. It should now load firmware. Once again be patient, It will take at least nine minutes for this procedure to complete. You will know you are almost done when the screen returns and displays that the panel firmware is being upgraded. You might consider doing a standard firmware upgrade with 2.2D again to insure that the upgrade re-writes all corrupt areas of the Flash chips. If all is well you now can upgrade to the mose current firmware

Cheers kkendric , our problem is it displays program loading, when we do as you stated it doesnt look like it even takes the firmware, just displays program loading.

I just had this problem with a 2560, and followed kkendric's advice, which he provided on another thread. I could also not move past the "program loading" screen. I had about given up on the fix, and it took longer than 2 minutes. I had left the room, and was coming back to shut the machine down and try swapping boards, but the firmware had finally started loading. I can't say exactly how long it took before everything kicked in, but it was over 10 minutes.

The two minutes were for the pre boot to prepare the system to accept the upgrade, then approximately 9 minutes for the firmware upgrade itself. Now you should be able to upgrade to the most current version.

yes, thank you for clarifying. My point was that the fix does work, you just have to be patient.

Patience is definately the key with this machine. It seems to be very quirky at best.

That's interesting is this switch located on the main lcd board, do the newer Taskalfa's have this too ?

What were the origonal symptoms? CFB31 or 30 maybe? If it just hung up at program loading and never had an error on the display(After 10 min or so) you possibly have a HDD problem. Down by the HDD connector does the red led flash like data is being accessed? I remember a KMA bulletin that requests that you use Ver 2.20D and after the first successful flash you repeat the flash with 2.20D to insure that all corrupt areas of the flash are rewritten. I do not know if this procedure will work with more recent firmware versions. Step 1
                              1. Turn the Main Switch OFF and then unplug the Power Cord.
                              2. Remove CF or USB Memory Stick.
                              3. Remove the screw on the Operation Panel Lower Cover to remove the Cover.
Change the Switch on the Operation Panel PCB from right "NORMAL" to left "BOOT".
                              4. Plug in the Power Cord and then turn the Main Switch ON.
                              5. The Display will be Blank and the Memory Light will flash at different intervals.
                              6. Once the Memory Light stops flashing and stays ON constantly, Takes about 2 minutes. Turn the Main Switch OFF and Unplug the Power Cord.
                              7. Change the Switch on the Operation Panel PCB from left "BOOT" to right "NORMAL".
Reinstall the Operation Panel Lower Cover and secure it using the screw.
                              Step 2
                              1. Download 2.20D Combined Firmware Package posted on KMAconnect.

                              2. Using a USB Stick, Load 2.20D Combined Firmware Package
                              Step 3
1.Insert the CF or USB memory stick containing the Firmware Update. Plug in the Power Cord and turn the Main Switch ON to restart the Firmware update.
                              2.
Program loading will display and then switch to a Blank display and back to Program loading. The Memory light will flash ON/OFF during this process. The upload takes approximately 7 to 10 min.
                              a.
Note: DO NOT turn the Main Switch OFF during this process.
                              3.
The Panel Firmware is the last to load and the display will change to Panel Firmware Update with a progress bar

                              4. Once completed, the lower display will change as shown.
                              5. Turn the main switch OFF, remove the Flash Memory stick or compact flash card and turn the switch ON.
                              6. Check Maintenance Mode 019 to confirm firmware levels.
                              1. Load 2.20D Combined Firmware Package a Second Time. This Step is Important to ensure the Firmware Rewrites the corrupted areas.

                              Step 4
                              1. Load 2.20D Combined Firmware Package a Second Time. This Step is Important to ensure the Firmware Rewrites the corrupted areas.
