    FS 1030

Wear on the fuser roller caused by the metal ring on the thermostat (not the thermistor). The thermostat is almost cutting through the hot roller after aprox 20-30k. I have had it on aprox 3 or 4 machines. Has anybody seen this problem. Thanks!

Have seen several on the 1030 and others..The plastic body is warping and pushing the thermofuse into the heat roller.I think they had a bad run of fuser units, however TS did not acknowledge a problem The fuser is going to code out. We replaced several under warranty. Also make sure your cooling fans are working and your temp setting are proper.

I have seen this on the km-1820 which uses identical type of fuser also on the fs-1020d. On the thermistor surface there are two electrodes and in between them there is a micro resistor or some component, therefore the center of the thermistor is raised and this rubs on the heat rolller and over time cause the mark. As long as the silicone or whatever that protects the themistor does not wear off the machine works fine. I have seen lots of machines with this and they work fine even till end of life. you should leave the toner that builds up on the thermistor, as if you try to clean it, it may ruin the thermistor and cause shorts.
