We've been running some TA machines in our office since last July, and have had some annoying, intermittent issues popping up.
Both out 8000i and 6550ci will occasionally not recognize the document feeder when originals are inserted to be copied. Almost as if the sensors are not detecting any paper at all, regardless of size. A machine restart corrects this, until it re-occurs. It seems to happen most frequently in the morning after the machines have been taken out of sleep mode. After attaching ESP(?) boxes to the power cords on the 8000i, the issue seems to have gone away, but following suit on the 6550ci did not resolve the issue. We have now had our dealer replace the entire document feeder on the 6550ci to see if that will resolve the issue.
The other odd thing that we are seeing on both machines is an occasional copy quality issue where faded copies are produced by the machines - sometimes it is the entire page, sometimes it is just a 1-2 inch faded band running vertically, usually for only a handful of pages, then returning to normal expected output. I've seen some threads related to other Kyocera machines that have exhibited similar issues, so am wondering if anyone knows whether those situations might apply to these TA machines. It has been suggested that the paper we are using could also be an issue, which I almost started to buy, until I started seeing the copies with the faded band as opposed to the entire page being faded. To me that indicates some other, mechanical/hardware, issue.
