    taskalfa 300ci errore7101

I've got a TA 250ci that is throwing a consistent C-7101 code... Upon arriving on site, machine was asking for K toner all the time... Ran and ran and ran and then said replace black toner. While waiting on customer to get another black toner cartridge for me to try, this 7101 code pops up. Turn the machine off and back on... it runs for a few seconds and then pops back up... No biggie... I yank all 4 of the motors off the back and check the fuse. All of them ohm out just fine. Cheat the front door, pull the toners out, run sim 135 and all the motors turn fine. Pull the developer units out and all of them turn fine by hand. Question... are all 4 motors supposed to turn when the machine powers up? The one closest to the bypass turns for about a second and then quits. The other 3 turn all the time. According to the troubleshooting guide, the one to the far left (when looking at the back of the machine) is the color DV motor which has nothing to do with the 7101 code... Am I crazy or....? I saw in one of the earlier posts something about the motor that's actually found in the front up above the exit tray. I noticed that the dv units looked fairly starved for toner but the guide doesn't mention anything about the 7101 with this motor. I don't want to start throwing engine boards and such at this thing without some direction... I do know that the color DV motor doesn't turn after a second or two when powering up but it's also not related to this code. ?????

You might want to try replacing the developer first. I've had two 500ci do exactly what you described and changing the developer was the fix.

You're not crazy. They're right about replacing the DV first but I would also suggest shaking it and lightly tapping on the bottom. I've gotten air pockets in them before and it causes the same issues. If it doesn't fix it then replace the appropriate dev motors.

I agree with all the other Techs postings, change the black Dev.
There is a also mod bulletin to change the main Dev drive motors on the T/A 552ci similar.

I sure wish I would have seen this post last week! Tha color dv motor not turning, but 7101 (black) error. Of course I tried everything else first, but the K DV fixed it.
