KM 5500i Constant False Exit Feed Sensor

Hi Guys, When it comes to the Kyocera line, I am definitely the new kid on the block. I have a relatively new (about 100k) 5500i. I am, in U031, getting a constant high of the Exit Feed Sensor. I swapped out the sensor and it came up, ran for a day, and went right back down again, same problem and symptoms. I went back with a new sensor and swapped it out. However, now it is a constant False Jam. The Exit Paper side of the sensor does work correctly. Just for grins and giggles, I swapped out the sensor again and the false jam remains. If I disconnect the Eject Assembly, the machine will initialize normally. For what I can see on the schematic, it seems a pretty basic path from the sensor through the FRPWB and back to the EPWB.
I was just curious if anyone has seen this kind of trouble in this area before.
Thanks in Advance and have a GREAT weekend.
    Doug

Try removing any wire ties, on the unit you removed, I have found super tight wire ties cause many odd problems.

Thanks for the hint. Cot the ties and fluffed the wires. No change.

Re: KM 5500i Constant False Exit Feed Sensor

You're gonna' love this. So I pull the exit assembly and swap the Exit Feed sensor with the SBS sensor on top. Now, with a supposedly good sensor, the false exit jam has disappeared to be replaced by a false Inner Tray Full indication. Remember, this is the supposedly good SBS sensor. As for the supposedly bad EFS sensor in the SBS position, it seems to work just fine.
So then, I swap back the SBS and EFS sensor and it returns to the same state it started at with a constant False Exit Jam and the SBS is just fine.
I have been in touch with Tech Support and they recommend we swap out the Exit/Eject Assembly.
        Weird.
The one question I have is this.
The EFS provides a split function. It serves as the Exit Sensor. It also serves as the Inner Tray Full.
The sensor is just your standard, garden variety 3 lead sensor.
I can find the EFS signal path on Pg 2-4-13. Where is the Inner Tray Full signal path? Or can you explain to me how this one sensor can generate two separate signals and states?

Problem resolved. We swapped out the Exit Assembly and it is all good.
The interesting thing is that the exit sensor is actually located above the bin full sensor, The book does not really get you there and it fooled tech support also. So if the upper sensor is the exit sensor, where the heck is the SBS sensor??
