There are 3 bulletins (at least) in reference to this issue

1st they modified the drum unit as follows, to prevent toner leaking back out onto the drum

The specified angle and pressure of the scraper is closely screened to effectively scrape the toner off the
    cleaning roller

2nd a detailed bulletin on cleaning

    [Details of Cleaning (every 300K)]
    1. Clean the duct in the toner disposal unit (machine rear side).
    2. Clean the cooling duct and conveying guide plate at main unit side.
3.Clean the developer unit and the cooling duct in the DV unit.

3rd but not least they reformulated the toner

you definately will have to do the full cleaning, they will exchange the old toner for the new and the drum has a has a black dot on the barcode label

We had a similar problem with 8000i and 6500ci.

There is a troubleshooting guides on how you can clean the machine, and ventilation needs to be cleaned as well.

There is new toner called toner V. you might have to try that.

Where did you get the drum unit bulletin? I can't find it on KMA's website.
          Thanks...

Any update on this we look after two Utax 1480 which is this exact same machine and it has the same problems. Within 70k the machine will have dropped so much toner from the front of the dev unit that it is visible inside the tray or contaminates copies via a toner splatter from the toner falling into the registration.

To us it looks like its being dropped from the drum unit i.e. toner is not sticking to the drum so it falls back down onto the front of the dev unit. We did all the vac stuff dev unit, exhaust traced it right through the machine which works for a little while but the customer does 30k a week so it doesn't take long to build up again.

                  Any advice massively appreciated.

Hi, Kyocera has a new UPGRADE KIT, it addresses several issues but it has several seals in it to prevent toner blowout. It is for the 6500/6550/7500/8000 machines. There is a video on how to install it at the Kyocera site. Hope that helps.
