    Reaching out to Mr Spock!

KM 650C Will not come to ready, F100 Code in test print mode (04)

Hoping to get some help, I was told your are one of the best on toshiba's

Have a Kyocera 650c - Equivelent to a Toshiba estudio 6520, that will not come to ready. When powered on it will go to display a pic of the copier and freeze.
Tried reformatting the hdd but when we try the 08 (pwr on) and key in the 690 and press start nothing happens.
Installed new 160 gig Western Digital hd performed the 3+clear at pwr on and 3 start. Then updated fw which took succesfully.
power off and go into 08 pwr on key in 690 and a big nothing. We have tried the test print mode 04 pwr on and the display shows F100 (hdd error) Does anyone have any input or words of wisdom.

This unit happens to be at a church and I have probably said many bad words throughout this process.

    Much thanks for your time

Not trained but usually with a Toshiba that shows this error I try an known good hdd of 120 gig (larger can cause issues). Then replace the data cable to the hdd. If still no luck then system pwb.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Thanks a lot for your quick response. I have been round and round with this bad boy. Do you know if I can use a off the shelf 120G Hard Drive?
Another way of asking that same question is are there any system files on a new toshiba or in this case kyocera hdd?

      Thanks again!

Did you do 08-947 after updating the firmware?

          Irtek,

          Thank you for your reply,
When this mess started the 650c would just stay in Warming Up, Pls Wait, even though the fuser was hot, by the way the new fuser and old fuser did the same thing. The unit would not allow me to perform any tests (08)/Pwr on - ok so far but the display continues to show wait!. When I put in a three or 4 digit setup mode or test and press START nothing happens. The Display would continue to show Wait. Performed CLR 3 / PWR Test 3 Start (All partition delete and create a laoder partition. Reloaded firmware still same prob.
So to answer your question I can not perform the 08-947 due to the Wait on the display. I can input the 947 but noything happens when i press Enter.

Got an es3500c from wholesaler doing similar to what you are describing. After doing about the same thing you have done someone on another forum suggested disconnecting the fax option. After removing the covers I found the fax connector unplugged. Plugged the fax connector in and machine came to ready and worked properly. If the machine has a fax option that could be something to check.

Any computer hard drive will work. As long as it is same technology, sata, pata. I stay away from maxtor because of temp in back of machine near fuser causes premature failure.

              Clr 3 option 3
Firmware update (only need hdd and ui if the rest is the as what is on there)
              08-947
08-690-2 start (if you do not do this you will get a hdd error when booting)

I am also with Irtek, if it has a fax option either completely remove and try or make sure it is completely connected.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Re: Reaching out to Mr Spock!

                Final solution!

The reason I was getting all of the waiting screens in the 08 setting mode was in fact the fax was not plugged in all the way.
Thank you goes out to Irtek and the follow up confirmation by Mr Spock. In the process of trying to resolve that problem
I believe I fried the hard drive in which case had to be replaced. You both hit it right on the head. Thanks to both of you.

                Peace Out!
