    FS-C5300 cassette tray lift issue

Cassette tray lift error code 1010. Found broken tooth on gear machine side that touches gear on tray. Went to replace it and found plastic shaft molded into the lift motor housing was also broke. I replaced the entire lift motor assembly. Now when the tray is lift and when it gets to the top I hear gears start popping. Doesn't matter if tray has 5 sheets in it or tray has lots of paper in it. I pull a tray from a nearby machine and it happens with both trays. I have to go back in the morning to start back at it again with diagnosing. I believe the lift motor assembly it installed correctly. I found no difference between this printer and another nearby. Only thing I can think of is the lift limit sensor which is on the Engine PWB but I want to see if anyone has something else to chime in on.

Check the paper empty actuator . If it is out of adjustment ( I have seen them twisted a little bit too ) the lift motor may not be getting a STOP signal ...

Good Luck ... let us know what you find ....

I created a support ticket with kyocera. They seem to also think that sensor. I cleaned it out no luck. Actuator seems OK. Unfortunately there is no sensor check in menu. I have to replace the engine board that the sensor is attached to. Printer is located in the dusty factory.

Replaced engine board. No help. Call support and they had me upgrade firmware then ask me to replace main board. None of that help. Tray had been replace. Support has no other suggestions. Last I heard they are sending a replacement printer.
