    Kyocera KM-5050 standard options...

We were sold a KM-5050 a few years ago. Only now do we want to network it for printing/scanning.

The LAN port was dead when we plugged in a CAT5, which was confirmed by a printer technician who came to investigate. He put in a new LAN board and the lights lit-up but then the copier wouldn't function, so he had to replace it again with the dead board and said he'd be back next week to fix the issue.

Now a staff member of the company who sold the printer has said that the Print/Scan 'option' at the time of purchase was not asked for, and would cost in the region of about €1200 (about $1900) to be included at the time.

    My question is; as standard...
    1) Should the LAN port light up, hence the copier be networkable
    2) Should the copier be able to Print/Scan over a network as standard?

    Many thanks

I am sure KM4050/5050 machines are having inbuilt printer/scanner board.....no need to purchase again... what u saying is correct...when the green light blinking means the machine is working....

just check with the authorised service rep.for further details....
    good luck...

We are dealing with the authorised service rep.

He is arguing that the Print/Scan card was an OPTIONAL extra at the time and would not have come as standard.

I find it odd that, if it was an optional extra, that a dummy LAN board/PCB would have been installed. I mean, the whole physical infrastructure is there, I saw the PCB being removed and replaced with an identical one, which then worked (the LAN lights lit up on both copier and switch)

      Are we being conned?

Also, would you be able to confirm if this "Print/Scan card" is infact the PCB that contains the RJ45/USB etc. ports? If so, one was always in the printer, just never worked

When buying a copier ALWAYS buy new and include a maintenance agreement.

The business did buy new, and does have a maintenance agreement! This service agent has been providing toner for the past few years and has never been needed for any actual maintenance/fixing things until now.

Only now do we want to hook the copier up to the network. All the physical infrastructure is there to connect to a LAN, but the LAN port is dead. When a technician arrived last week, he replaced the PCB in the side of the copier with an identical one (and then the LAN port lit up), but then the copier itself would not function. He said he would return next week to solve the issue as he reckoned it was a software/firmware collision, so had to re-install the old PCB

What I am curious of is, should the KM-5050 be networkable for print/scan as standard, or would it have been an optional extra? The service agent is saying that, as standard, the KM-5050 didn't come with this card

-The KM3050, 4050 and 5050 models all have the networking embeded on the main board, meaning that it is part of the machine and is not an option. Print and scan functions are standard for this machine.

                Certainly trying U906 wouldn't hurt.
program ip address and subnet and from your pc enter ip address in internet explorer address bar and see if it finds it.
