    KM 2550 Random

Been to this customer twice and complaint is "Printer Mode Error" but I can't find any issue, always prints, copies, and scans fine when I arrive. As soon as I leave BINGO failure. Always the way right.
This customer has IT Dept. and tech hasn't found anything that would jump out him.
    I'm thinking reinstall drivers, firmware?
    Any good suggestions?

I think when it runs out of paper that message comes up. And of course when you get there they have already loaded the cassette.

Only does it when printing , not copies. Out of paper message comes up when making copies , but printing error when out of paper during printing. Did they try to print on a odd size paper also ??

I've seen this before and if I remember correctly it actually had to do with specific documents and the emulation. I think if you change the emulation to PCL it works (or visa versa I can't remember exactly).

When it says "Print Mode Error" if you press the printer button it will tell you why you have an error...I've seen it wanting a different size paper, I've seen it ask to load paper...even had a call for a "Print Mode Error" and I ask the person to press the Printer button and it was asking for toner....so you can't really pin point the exact error until you tell the customer or IT Tech to press the button and do what the machine asks them to do...

+1 on Kidaver .... have them press the printer button to find out what is causing the error. I had a customer trying to print a large document and when it had output 50 pages it would display a "Print Mode Error", pressing the printer button gave the message "remove copies from the output tray".

You won't know what the message is until you press the printer button.

Hey you Techs are right on! I have contacted office admin and asked her to press printer button upon PRINTER MODE ERROR. We'll see what happens down the road. Thanks to all!

                  I had this error recently

Have them press printer next time it happens...

they they will see the paper size that the machine is requesting....

usually the paper size is a european paper size like a3 a4 and such... if the machine is programmed for letter and legal... meaning inches over cm... then you get this error... the machine knows it needs european paper size but it does not have it...

if thats not the problem... then you have issues...

I solved it by playing with the adobe reader printer settings...
and then training the client to impliment my solution...
