[Error Code] KM-1810 J98 Error Code

A J98 error code came up on my Kyocera KM-1810. I ordered a new laser and replaced it. The copier worked for about 10 days and now J98 shows up again. Besides a bad laser, does anyone have any suggestions on anything else that I could try?

C400 is the code you get if you have a bad laser. J98 would be a user code. I think J means JAM. Look in the owners manual? Paper jam somewhere? Go back and look.

On the CS/KM 1810 the laser error error actually appears as A400, however I have seen J98 caused by a laser as well. I think this is because for some reason, on some machines the laser error triggers after the paper has started to move triggering the J98 error instead of the laser error.

What is so puzzling is that we replaced the laser, there are no jams, and it is still throwing up the code.

Pull the laser out and remove the 5 sided mirror and put the smallest drop of oil on the mirror shaft. Not sure where you got the laser unit. Was it a rebuild? I have done this if the mirror shaft is not to bad and it works great. Again, just a tiny wipe with oil on the shaft.

I got the book out and it says C400 for the laser but I also have seen A400 . Same deal, bad laser. But I never had a machine go into warm up with a bad laser? It would throw the code during warm up. Anyway good luck.

I think the guy is saying you have a exit switch that is bad. I do know those exit switches become defective from the fuser heat. Might be worth a try.?

I think if the question is asked in English then the anwsers shoud likewise. That's the only language I know so I guess I'm not as educated as some. If I lived in France or Quebec Canada I would be able to speak French. If I lived in Mexico I'd know Spanish . But here in the states all you are required to learn is English. French is such a funny language anyway. When they say yes they use the work Oui. That's what I do when I go pee. OUI, OUI. LOL.
