    Weird Scans

We have 2 brand new machines, one is a 4500i and the other is a 5551ci. They both exhibit the same problem. When scanning to email, with the scan set to full color all scanned black and white documents come out with a light burnt orange background and any color copies come out with everything tinted green. If you switch the machines scanning to black and white, the copies come out perfectly black and white. I have attached samples, Driving me nuts, thanks

I don't know if these machines use the scanner color charts, but you might want to look into that. I had a KM2560 giving me a similar problem but the background color was red. I tried maintence mode adjustments, color charts, replacing every part of the scanner assy (including wires and cables), formatting the hard drive. I called tech support and after requesting the third of fourth set of samples to send to them, my supervisor said "Stop", and we gave the customer a loaner. I never did find out what was causing that issue.

There is a scan background level that can be accessed in the user adjustments. try that!

        Try this:

U429 (Setting the offset for the color balance), select (TEXT+PHOTO), reduce values from 0 to -2 for the colors you see in the background, or lower them all.

At setup you should have done U425 and then run U411, there is a color chart that has the numbers on it to be entered in 425 then scan it in 411.(2 Actually) Had numerous machines that running these corrected the problem even after customer has had machine for a year.
