FS-1135 fax boards

We've replaced 3 or 4 of these boards so far in these machines. Two boards in one machine at a customer where this 1135 replaced an 1128 machine that had no issues before with the fax. Is anyone else having issues with these fax boards?

boards are blowing out pretty much...either getting F378 errors or doesn't recognize the fax at all....tech support suggested removing fax, loading FW, installing fax, reloading FW when we got the F378...did that yesterday for one...hung up while trying to load fax FW....then just swapped it out and brought to the shop and put in another machine to try to load FW again...finally loaded and then just didn't recognize the fax...

We had a couple go bad also. If you ask Kyocera they will tell you that you ae the only one in the world having the problem.

This week i saw what you were saying about these. In my case it was on FS-3140MFP+, brand new fax board arrived and when i installed it F378 pops. Machine tries to start and after a minute of loading freeze the error pops. I will update when i get some conclusions.

We had had one machine that has gone through 3 fax boards in a week. We didn't want to install the fourth until we talk to Kyocera. The help desk said this was a strange one and "they have never heard of this problem before". The guy said that it sounds like something is taking out the modem and we should have the phone line checked. I told him the customer has a brother fax they used when the 1135 went down, and we have an 1128 as a loaner, been there for 2 days, without an issue. Also, there is another 1135 about 100 miles away witht he same issue. Has anyone found an answer for this? I find it hard to believe it's a phone line issue with the distance between them all.

Is the modem/phone line a single dedicated phone line or does it have a broadband carrier ?
If it's a dual band line make sure you have a broadband-phone line filter in situ.
Connect the fax line from the MFP into the phone side of the line filter.
Redo you service mode line attenuation settings for the line filter impedence.
Is it service mode U651 = -13 in this model ? Try setting it to around -10.

It's single line dedicated fax.

Is the fax line coiled around any high power switching gear leads, like industrial motors,fans, compressors?
This will cause induction sperry/transients on the fax line and possibly blow the fax board.

I don't think so, I know it is around some power lines. I'll check the next time I'm around there.

The machine Zackuth is talking about when I was there putting in the 2nd board before I put the board in this is pretty much what was going on. Took fax board out and updated FW, put back in and updated FW. Under job status the Fax would say Phone Line in Use. It would not answer when a fax was coming in and would not pick up dial tone when sending a fax normally. Now with that said I was able to send a fax with the On Hook function and I was able to manually recieve a fax thru On Hook. So the board was functioning in that it could recieve and send under those circumstances it would just never actually try to pick up the line on it's own. I've seen this with 3 different machines in 3 different towns.
