6525 - Arm on back of drive unit

[BHRLC]

During "troubleshooting", took off the drive unit on this model and there is a little white
armature on the back towards the bottom that goes inside the machine that I may have
not aligned correctly. Machine's making clanking noises, but no errors and copies fine now.
This was originally to troubleshoot fuser jamming.
There is nothing in the manual about this arm/cog, whatever it's called...
I have tried moving the arm in 3 or so different positions and no change in the noise.
There is an arrow on the gear housing but that doesn't really help me.

Ahh .. parts manual to the rescue.
I may be in for more than I bargained for. Sounds like something may be wrong
with something else like gears / paper feeder, etc. Days like this really make me
want to have a time machine.

Ok so the noise never went away but I think we've narrowed it down -3.jpg
Boss thinks somehow that the "MP Bottom Plate" is stuck/actuated
when paper is called from Cassette 1 or 2 (normal operation).
The mylar around the separation pads appear to have been messed up
somehow too and a bit of rubber sprinkles from what appears to be from
the feed rollers rubbing too hard against the separation pads.

I don't know why the MFP doesn't error out or jam.
Very strange.
All this is more than likely from taking the drive unit off, inspecting/cleaning
and reinstalling it...

I'm going to take pics / look at another 65xx series in a little bit
for comparison.
Ideas appreciated!

OK so where would one find the MPSOL (solenoid?) connected to YC1-8?
The MP feeder looks like its gear driven?

This is what the other 65xx model "flap" is supposed to look like -
The piece at the bottom with the cork is what appears to be stuck in the engaged
position.
Wish I could find what part it is in the manual...

It was the MP bottom tray solenoid; Well, the solenoid arm - it had came out of place.
I don't recommend disassemblage of the drive unit. *whistles and looks around*
It took a spring grab tool and a few screwdrivers at the same time to line all the gears up
so that the drive unit housing could be put back together. Be sure to push the solenoid arm
back too, or it will be knocked out of alignment by the gears.

Yeah I figured I would be proactive with a customer out of town and clean the clutches in this assembly. I definitely regretted taking it apart. Wouldn't do it again unless I had to. Put the machine back together and the mp tray is constantly cycling as if it's attempting to pull paper any time the main motor was on. Took a lot of fiddling around with it before I finally got it back in correctly.
