    TASKalfa 2550ci Banding

Hi guys, Have any of you had a problem with banding\streaking (all colours) on these machines ?
I have replaced drums, DV's and mod gears to the new main charges. The transfer belt seems okay. The banding disappears after service or replacement of any unit but returns within a few days. Sometimes one colour at a time, sometimes all four. I have tried different altitude settings and firmware is up to date.
I am going to replace the High Voltage PWB but am not convinced of the outcome.
    Any other suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance
The product may be brilliant and the salesperson proficient, but if the technician isn’t efficient, then the story will end there.

        Re: TASKalfa 2550ci Banding

Looking closely at the top left of the page, just to the right of "Status Page", you can see a ghost image of the kyocera logo. That combined with the lines going in the copy direction and that the backgrounding is most prominent at the top and bottom of the page make me think drums or transfer belt cleaning section. You said you already replaced the drum assemblies, so I'd look at the transfer belt, specifically the cleaning section. I've never taken apart the cleaning section on a 2550ci but I know you are able to on the 250ci, 3550ci, 3551ci series. Hopefully they allow the 2550ci to be taken apart as well. Maybe there's a label or something stuck in the blade. After service it probably runs its checks and calibrations enough to get most of the excess toner off the transfer belt which slowly builds up over time until the next calibration cycle clears it again.

Are you getting this on printouts, or just when full color copying?

I get the banding mostly when the machine wakes from sleep mode....
It gives the problem with copy and print.
However, the banding does get lighter when 50 or more copies are made.
            I'll inspect the belt again...

Thanks I will let you guys know

.........To your reply....... " I've never taken apart the cleaning section on a 2550ci but I know you are able to on the 250ci, 3550ci, 3551ci series. Hopefully they allow the 2550ci to be taken apart as well. Maybe there's a label or something stuck in the blade."

I just sent one of my technicians to clean out the transfer belt unit. He reported that the unit could be taken apart, but did not find anything other than a bit of waste toner behind the cleaning blade. It seems that, after cleaning, the copies\print were clean but I am sure it will only be temporarily as the customer confirmed the fault to be very intermittent. At times the print were "clean" and an hour later "dirty" and "clean" again a while later.
              This is a weird fault...

                  ...Well....NOT the High Voltage PWB.
Next option will be to replace the Transfer Belt Unit and see.

Enter U429. There u will have various options, and i think the bottom one says print. In your case lower the C and M values to -2 and give it a go.

                      Thank You Kyo Fan,
I returned to the machine to replace the Transfer Belt (since I did Order it...) and found that the retainer that covers the drums front area got unclipped on the left side. I suspect that this happened when the waste cover was closed over it. I made sure to close it properly and I noticed an immediate positive result. After about 10 copies the waste was gone and the images faultless.

                      Thanks to all who contributed

                        Good day all...
Seem to have been the transfer belt High Voltage PWB. (This machine has x3 different HV PWB's)
I replaced it a week ago and I am still holding thumbs...
                        Thanks for all the input.

P.S. this is a great site
