NIC 1.4 is the latest for this system.
Can you check for me what number you have in Service mode under simulation 265?
Also 4030 is 40ppm machine and they had different interface board to the best of my knowledge. For start the physical appearance. On the bottom of the main plate when you push the board in the machine there is extra groove next to the screw hole. On 4030's there is a pin. On 2530,3530 there isn't. This way you can't accidentally put 25 ppm print board to 40 ppm machine. Now the tricky bit is that you can put 4030 board in to 2530 machine

So in my opinion you effectively downgrading firmware (speed) from 40 page per minute to 25-35. Silly but I think I am not far from truth. When I find time tomorrow back in the office, I'll have a look at two old donkeys we have as a last back-up and try something.
