300i adf feeds multiple sheets

are there any adjustments or tweeks to make to the adf to help prevent it from taking multiple sheets? replaced rollers, sep pad and mylars. tried stretching spring for sep pad for more tension but didn't help much. documents being fed are in decent shape. thanks

Check the cover of the feed roller where the tension spring is. I've seen on 300i, 2560, and 3060 DFs where the spring finally cracks and breaks the casing where the spring is supposed to stop. With it broken your sep roller isn't getting the tension to slow down.

If you put a piece of electrical tape around the torque limiter when you install it, it can reduce the chance of plastic cracking. It fits snug and reduces strain on casing. Actually I think the new ones are magnetic so that doesn't work. Old spring limiter, yes.
