    520i Lines

    Hello,

Have faint, straight lines on 520i (see attached image) the lines are moving. Replaced drum, developer, fuser, transfer and the laser. Nothing has made a difference. any thoughts?

well i cant get the scanner to pick them up, so just know they do not fill in entirely across the page, it never gets darker than a faint grey. The width between the any two lines varies as well.

Well we replaced everything but the most obvious thing, the toner. took it out, swapped the developer, cheated the switches, and no lines. Tossing the toner our.

Thanks for reading if you did.

I'm assuming wasn't OEM toner, I have never had great copy quality with any of my Kyocera's unless use OEM no matter what any of the toner salesmen tell me. My boss has made me use it occasionally to save money but in long run it never does.

It wasnt, we seldom have issues with compatible kyocera toners. We use Polek & Polek for our compatibles. They are very reliable.

You will eventually get burned by compatible toners I promise

I would use compatabile toner on black and white machines with mono component devs. In this way, you can vacum out the dev if you suspect toner problems.
Try it with a couple of machines first and see your results. Yes OEM is definitely better, but cost factor for cpc contracts will force to use compatabliles or eat loss.
We use non-oem as to the customer and accounts.
Colour definitely go with oem as to the amt of dev, and drum units and copy quality issues. Also it depends on your supplier, some are better than others in QC of their production ect. When non-oem is used in low volume use, it tends to cause more problems. profit margins for many will sway many to use non-oem.

The biggest issue is having a reliable vendor. Toners that have multiple parts in them (like HP with Drum, Developer & Toner) are more prone to failure because of the variety of moving parts involved.

When its just a box of toner and its not tied to the developer or drum like kyocera, there isnt much that goes wrong outside of the occasional bad toner.

Everyone is entitled to buy whatever toner they prefer, so im not here to convert anyone to compatible, but I certainly dont think its the devil its made out to be sometimes.
