    Taskalfa 5500/5501i problamatic

Is this copier problamatic, I've seen a lot of post for service codes, broken fuser gear on new fuser, paper feed issues and more. I need to sell a customer a good used copier. Looking at the 5500i or the Ricoh MP6001

I have never seen a broken fuser gear on this model. Always go Kyocera.

broken gear on new fuser? who opened the box or dropped it?

Havent seen a new fuser dead on arrival. It doesnt really throw random error code if you keep the firmware up to date.

my problem with 5500i is that it dust a bit(90degrees bend on exhaust port created choke...), but its easy to get to.

        Re: Taskalfa 5500/5501i problamatic

I have several 5500/ 5501 out in the field and have only had a couple of issues that were resolved with a firmware updates and a new fuser design for the 5501. The 5500/5501 tend to dust a little inside the mfp, however, it has not caused any copy quality issues. These mfps are located in busy law and mortgage offices that run at least 20k a month, as you know the pm cycle is 600k on these box's and I have two that are getting ready to hit their pm cycle without any major issues. On the 5500 I wish they designed it a little easier to replace the paper tray feed rollers, you basically have to remove the entire feed unit to do it properly, which could cut into down time in a busy office, however they changed that design on the 5501. The maintence kit will cost you around $500.00 to $600.00 because the maintenance kit does not include feed/sep/ pick up rollers for the paper trays which will also need to be replaced and possibly adf feed and sep rollers, too. Which ever model you choose make sure you can get technical support for, I worked for a company that serviced a lot of Ricoh MP C 2500 to 5000's and it was tough dealing with issues that we could not get tech support for, especially, firmware issues.
