[Jamming] FS-4020DN Paper Jam Message, No Jam found. E0.00.00.01.01

I'm having a jamming issue on several FS-4020DN printers that I have been unable to find the cause of and am hoping the more experienced minds here can help me.

As background I work with mostly FS-4020DN and FS-4200DN printers. Our company provides computer systems for pharmacies including the printers so all of them are being used in the same manor. I am the only kyocera/printer tech at our company.

    On to the Problem.

Some of our customers complain of jamming on their FS-4020DN machines. The printer will say jam but no jam is found in the printer. Opening and closing the top cover clears the jam message and they can print again. I print off an event long on the printers and check the Paper Jam Log portion. The most common reoccurring jam on these printer is an E0.00.00.01.01 ( E0: Paper misfeed occurs due to forced stop when an error occurs during printing. (such as opening of a cover) [00], MP tray, blank fpr paper size, Paper type=Plain, Paper exit = Face Down Tray) However this does not appear to be acurate as they do not use the MP tray at all, and as far as I can tell 00 for paper size is not an available option .

Since the error message mentions a forced stop such as due to a cover being opened I have tried adjusting the sensor for the top cover and the back fuser area to try and make sure they are detecting being closed properly. So far those modifications have not helped.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any solutions? Contacting kyocera support has not been enlightening in this case.

We have sen this many times. Check the top door switch. It should be pushed up tight against the switching regulator. If there is a gap between the board and the switch, drill a hole through one hole of the switch through the board (look at the back of the board first to see which hole can be drilled through without hitting a trace on the back of the board). Put a small screw in from the back of the board and thread it into the switch to pull the switch tight against the board. We have done this many times on the 2000, 4000, 2020, and 4020 to fix this problem. Hope this helps.
