I load paper from roll#1 and the machine will print part of the job and cut the paper and retract all the way out of the feed unit back to the roll and then says load paper. Tried this 3 times the first print of this job printed about 24" of the document, 2nd time about 35", and the 3rd time it tried to print it, it only printed about 12-14 " and every time it cut the paper stopped printing retracted the paper and said to reload. Everytime I reloaded it started printing like there was no problem, but every time it would rewind the paper and tell me to reload. I think It is a failure of the top sensor but I'd like some input , I haven't done to many of these machine ------No error codes ever. Thanks

Re: KIP 3000
I see 3 sensors that control the paper. 2 sensors in the center of the drawer the initial sensor when you feed the paper in, the sensor above it, probably leading edge detect and the encoder sensor in the right side of the drawer. Any ideas ThanksComment

Re: KIP 3000
I don't work on KIP wide format machines, but for what it is worth I'll take a shot while we wait for people smarter than me to show up.
I'd take a look at the sensor that detects the end of the paper. It kind of sounds like the machine thinks the roll is down to the end, and cuts and retracts the paper before a small piece gets stuck somewhere. Then it detects that paper is still there, and goes "Oops, reload paper.".
I don't know if that machine can detect paper skew, but if so that would be another thing to check.
Sorry if that was a waste of time.Comment
