once you get the new part in place ( check the other side also ) you will notice you have to have the front cover down and the gear train has arrows and holes on the gears.. get the arrows lined up with the holes on ALL gears in the set. it can be a pain and may take a few tries to get them set right.
Yeah. It was fun to get it all back together and aligned. Don't usually work on HP's but they're basically a Canon
OK guys, sorry to revive this dead thread, but just had the same thing happen on a Canon lbp 5360. Essentially the same machine with a different badge.
Does anyone know if I use the same part number? The HP number is in the format of a Canon number.
Check to make sure the other lock levers aren't busted too! I have had several like this... there could be springs missing... pull both side covers to make sure you don't have the same issue on the left side. I have the service manual if you need it.

I have access to Canon's e support so I can get my own manual. I was out on the road so I wanted to check here to see if anyone knew if the numbers were the same, and they are
