[Error Code] OKI ES5162LP Scanner end of life!?

I have an OKI ES5162LP that has an error message saying Lamp Error. When I select the copy function a message pops up that says "scanner end of life <3>" which, according to the manual, is "calibration defective (timewise deterioration)". Am I to believe that the scanner lamp is not going to work because of a time limit? They cannot fax, scan or copy and a replacement scanner is on back order until September. Does anyone know of a solution or work-around that will get the scanner working?

there should be a numeric error code.. we need that code.

it's not a time limit but rather EOL.

no there is no other way than to replace the whole scanner :-(
