Oki ES8473 Not recognizing duplex unit

Just curious if anyone else has ran into this. Unit is functioning completely normal other than duplex unit. Machine does not know it's there. You can slide it out and get no error lights for being unset. Switch and motor tests all fail. If you ask the machine to duplex, copies (glass and df), prints, faxes etc. all come out single sided. From what I can tell in the maintenance manual, there is a 24v hard mounted fuse on the main control board. However blown fuse conditions show it should through a service code of 918 if that is bad. It does have a 2nd tray under it which also functions normal, so power is being supplies to the additional trays.

Thinking it has to be a main control board issue but if anyone has seen this and can confirm or steer in another direction, I'm grateful for the help

Pull out the duplexer and look inside to make sure there is no paper in the other end of the connector.Other than that it might need a new duplexer.

No paper in either side of the connector and machine does not know when the duplexer is removed. Originally thought it was the tray itself but on a working machine, the machine knows when the unit is not set. If not for paper crashing, you could leave the unit out and make a copy and the machine wouldn't know any difference.

Only because after doing this for so long, sometimes it's beneficial to admit when you've screwed up. Apparently I've reached the age where my eyes aren't what they once were. One tiny little slip of paper over 2 pins in the machine connector was the culprit. I looked at it twice going into this knowing that that would make the most sense. Damned if I could see it though. 😡😡😡. I hate getting old
