    OKI MPS5502 error F106

I've had 3 of these in the past 2-3 weeks do this. I have yet to get a single one fixed.

The last one I fixed was about 2 years ago and I dont remember what I did beside replace the HDD with a toshiba drive I had laying around.

These started with F101 errors. I did exactly what is in the HDD recover manual/bulletin and reloaded the firmware using the software on oki's website. This is after formatting etc.. following the docs to the letter.

After doing this I have F106 on all 3 machines., What am I missing. I tried different HDD's 500g, 320g (i know 320 is standard) seagates, toshibas, WD, nothing is changing the error.

Any help in what I am missing would be awesome.

    Thank You!

I've had to replace multiple hard drives on these machines. They need a special special wipe drive. This was a a hybrid between OKI & Toshiba. I bought the drives from Memory Experts that were probably half the cost from OKI. Replace the drive and reinstall the firmare and you should be good to go.

What brand do you typically use? I cant seem to find memory experts website. I googled them but they dont seem to have a storefront.
I dont really understand why I used a samsung HDD before and it worked but doing the same thing doesnt now. lol

Would cloning a working HDD to a random HDD work? i might try this tomorrow.

Got it figured out leaving this here for anyone else in the future having this issue.

The HDD installed must W at the end of the part number indicating its a special Wipe Technology HDD (it will usually say this as well on the HDD)

If it isn't a Wipe Drive it will error out.

I know what you ment by special wipe drive now, id never heard of such a thing before. lol

            Thanks Everyone for the help!
