    OKI MC760 shows F106 Error

    Hello members,
i have a OKI MC760 that shows F106 Error. Due HDD was clicking i got a new 350GB HDD from toshiba and tried do install the OS on the new HDD with the USB-Firmwarestick, as shown in OKI Manual...

when i Start with 4c+Power i can format the HDD, Servicepassword and Errorlog is deleted,,, in 3C menu it shows SATA-HDD (maybe the old original was ADI-HDD???) but manual says " no problem, if SATA-HDD or ADI-HDD-> is ok".

When i want to start the 5C Menu, nothing happens. Manuals says: change the HDD.

now i got 3 different HDD's all generally working, all reseted by Seagate or Toshiba tool to "factory defult" without any partition and so on...

All 3 can be formatted in OKI-Service (4C) even the "secureformat wors ( i belive in 4C menue?!).
OKI says: call your local dealer in Berlin and they say: F106 is mostly the HDD (as i wrote them...) and (now it comes) often standard-HDD doesnt work proper...

So my question to all of you: Anyone with experience, that had same issue or the knowledge what to do? i surely won't drive 260 Kilometers or pay 400 Euro for a 350 GB HDD

By the way: my OKI sales says, that this OKI is a coop with Toshiba, so Toshiba technicans are welcome too ;-)

    Best regards, Chris

Short answer, if the previous HDD was ADI-HDD then you must use a new ADI-HDD Wipe Technology type, normal HDD's won't be accepted if ADI-HDD was previously in use.

      Thank you Blizzoo.
is there a chance to find out, if previous HDD was ADI?
Or is there any way to teach my OKI, that "NORMAL SATA" is quite ok? in 3C i can revert ADI-HDD.. but this only works, if the ADI-HDD is "working"...
Or is there a chance to make ADI-HDD from the "normal" HDD? my new HDD starts is MQ01AB D032v... the orginal was MQ01AB U032W ...

At Coytechnet Article 6550c - ADI HDD to Normal SATA HDD? there was a hint, that swiping SRAM could help getting rid of the "ADI-HDD"-need?!

By the way: ADI depends on safety-Functions stored in the PCB of HDD...right?
If PCB layout from the "ADI-HDD" is same as the new "SATA-HDD" ( MQ1AB is the same beginning)... maybe i can change the board and this will make a ADI from the SATA?! This could be a test that the 20 Bucks is worth...?!
