    [Misc] Oki machines

    Hi all

Looks like we're gonna be flogging some Oki gear in the future, small mono's and the larger A3 colour units. Does anyone have any oppinions on these machines and heads up? Would be good to hear what you guys think about their gear.

    Cheers all and happy Friday!!

I just got out of an Okidata B4600 contract. Im not a huge fans. Granted I saw less of them then the Lexmarks but still not the best build. On the 4600 the right side paper tray guide has a spring and plastic clip that breaks almost all the time on that right side foot. A quick replacement of that will get rid of paper feed jams from the tray. For the price they charge for parts and new machines I look else where.

I've got all the Okidata service manuals but I don't sell too many of them.

We sell the ES Oki gear its the same as the regular stuff but machine and consumables are differently priced. The M560 MFP becomes the ES5460, we have a few out in the field and a few of the mid sized ES8460, haven't moved the largest one yet, for the cost it seems other manufacturers can provide a better option, however thekit seems to be reliable so far.

We have had mixed reviews: the higher volume/professional lines (C98xx/C96xx/C61xx) seem to hold up nicely. Not much maintenance required. However some of the lower end stuff is, well, lower end.. Made a bit more cheaply and therefore breaks more often. You can really say the same about any of the manufacturers thruthfully, especially HP..

Yeah, the executive series is quite good maintenance wise, quite reliable,,one lower end mono m/c think it was b2540,absolute rubbish,
However,an issue we find is the image units dont always reach there estimated page yields.I think the units life is calculated on the amount of rotations of the drum. The machine includes cleaning rotations of the drum in the life count of the unit.So if someone is doing a lot of single sheets instead of continuous runs then the actual pages the image unit processes can be as much as 25% below the estimated yield.
Also, say someone prints out a configuration report and it says k drum 0% k toner 30%,when they replace the drum,it takes in lot of the toner from the cart, prompting the user the toner is low or replace toner! These two issue can be frustrating to the customer and can take some explaining I could do without.
If these aren't issues for you then the maintenance of these machines are very reliable.
