[Electrical] HP CM6040 MFP Power Issues

    Hope someone can help.

I have an HP CM6040 MFP which had a power board failure a couple of months after it was bought. Basically every time it was connected to the power, it would bang and trip the entire building's circuit breaker.

The floor socket was tested by an independent electrician and no faults were found. The copier was blamed.

HP eventually sent someone out and they replaced much of the power internals. The copier worked fine for a few more months.

However, it has just done the same again - went bang then took out the entire floor.

I have not yet tried to turn it back on this time as it is clearly dangerous.

It is now out of warranty but our hardware maintainers are coming to have a look at it. Last time I spoke to them they mentioned that this model is notorious for power failures, causing whole floors to be tripped. Is this something anyone else is aware of or is it just a bit of exaggeration from our maintainers (who are normally very good and know their stuff).

I basically don't want a potentially dangerous machine being used by my users if there is a known issue.

    Thanks
