    [Misc] Japan earthquake affecting firmwares

    I've noticed on Ricoh and Konica Minolta firmwares that there are now specific firmwares for modified boards because copier manufacturers had to switch suppliers due to the Japan Earthquake.

    My question: Are all other manufacturers being affected by this? And what are so far the consequences of flashing a machine with the wrong firmware type?

      Yes. Sharp just went through a series of firmware upgrades to accommodate their new CCDs on several models. They have also done this with at least one pwb that I know of. A few E codes are generated with incorrect versions. I know of one error that will change the model of the finisher installed on the machine!! The only fix is a new board.
