Anybody have a favorite Air Printer?

    Hi,

    Just wondering...

I know it's a bit outside the scope of what we normally discuss here, but this is for personal use.

Any favorite $200 or under B&W laser printers, that would support basic Windows and Air Print?

The volume would be under 200 pages a month.

Primarily printing from iPad, but occasional Win XP and Win 7 jobs.

No need for color, and I refuse to get into the ink / bubble jet world, where the cartridges and heads would dry up before they ever get used.

Trying to keep it wireless (although I think almost any Air Print printer would be, anyway), as there is no easy way to get a drop where I would like it to live.

No need for an all-in-one, either; just a printer.

    Thanks!

You can air print to any printer/copier, you just need to install Air Print for Windows (free) on any windows machine or handyPrint (not free) on any Mac which hosts the driver.

Thanks, for the speedy reply, but that's what I've been doing with my old HP LJ6 for the past 2 years.

It's time to get rid of the PC it's attached to, and I'm not replacing it. (It's my wife's, and she has nothing that she can't process on her iPad.)

The HP may be headed for the graveyard, too. It's 18 years old, and needs a lot of work. (which I can do, but I'm not really willing to.)

If I get a printer that natively supports Air Print, I don't have to host it with a PC.

Besides, it's not often that she actually gives me access to the checkbook!

You could build an enexpensive small form factor, NAS box that's running FreeNAS (I believe)... Installs from a USB stick is Linux based, could probably find an Airprint plugin for it. Hook it up to a laser printer of your choice. I think the FS-1370DN is a good printer, it's Kyocera that's around that price range.
