DP-8060 Fuser - Pressure roller help

I have 3 fusers that im trying to rebuild. I cannot seem to get the Jam Release knob off the pressure roller on either units. Is there a trick? I looked in the manuals and couldnt figure out a way.

They are like fused on there.

They are left handed threads. Turn your screwdriver clockwise to remove them.

Then, you'l need an impact driver. It can be tough!

Make sure you are using a #2 phillips that is not rounded. Always have a new one for problems like these. some of these screws will not budge if your screw driver tip is not in good shape. do not use power tool for this removal. some can be a bit tough, but i found if i use a #2 with a new or almost new tip it removes that screw no problem. never had one where it cannot be removed. and as onetek said turn clockwise.

I use a pair of needle nose vice grips. I set the vice grips on the flat spot of the shaft of the knob (if I remember correctly on the inside of the frame), then I spin the LFR.

Hey thanks, ended up having to hacksaw the shaft off and replacing the screw.

All is well with new parts

Disappointed with you disko on not getting that screw off with some ingenuity. just kidding .

I think you meant you hacksaw off the turn knob and replaced the screw. yes ?. just for others that they don't actually go and saw the shaft itself off. When installing these knobs the screw , it does not need to be tight hard , just lightly when it has reached home .

HAHA! I got fed up with it, tried heating it up / cooling it down. Channel locks. even destroyed a pressure roller trying to get it to stay in place so I could turn the knob. In the end, I took a hacksaw to the area where the screw (jam knob) meets the pressure roller, I just ended up replacing the whole knob assembly.

That should teach it to mess with me :P

Side note. Panasonic parts are getting harder to get access to
