    non-oem toner....

Yep.....p&p is one of the most failure-prone brands of toner out there in my experience. However, even the 'good' compatibles WILL fail maybe 1 out of 25.....and when it does, it takes out lots of expen$$$ive supplies with it!
In stark contrast, in the 22 years I've been doing this I've seen 1/100th as many problems caused by OEM's supplies, and usually those could be tracked down to poor storage/handling issues, i.e. unsealing a bottle of iron-ferrite based developer, and leaving it on a damp cold shelf with the cap half-screwed on. May as well have thrown it into the garbage!!

Yeah, with a bit of reflection on the subject, I recall 6 months or so ago we had a slew on 1520/1820s with an odd brown buildup on the fuser rollers, there was no hope cleaning it off, just had to replace them, I was just about to request that we try a different toner when the problem abruptly stop surfacing. And of course =D, these machines were using P&P toner. They must have realized it and adjusted the formula as I haven't seen it yet =D.

Lol, I clearly remember the first one I saw, damn 1820 was in a closet in a bank, there was a shelf right above the copier(so close that you couldn't raise the ADF most than 2 inches), and on the shelf was a coffee maker, creamers, sugar packets..... Poor customer, i accused them of spilling coffee in there machine =P.

I was able to buff the drum really hard and the image finally came off. The drum and drum blade have been replaced along with the developer. All wires are clean. This seems to occur every 3 to 4 weeks. Again, after I buff the drum it is fine. I can run several hundred prints and there is no sign of the defect coming back while I am there. Any idea's?
Check customers media, not using unusual paper weights, ensure genuine Panasonic Toner, also check Dev Bias setting (May need readjusted F6-19) make copy lighter, hope this helps !

There is a lower seal behind the drum and under the cleaner blade. On the 80 series, there is this crappy white mylar wormy thingy ma junk. It pushes into that lower seal, warping it. On a few of these, we've removed the white mylar worm and it stops the drum damage. On the earlier series, 6030, there is no white mylar and i have never seen this problem on that model....

Are you speaking of the segmented white mylar sheet in the waste auger area?

We have switched to all OEM toner on all 8035, 8045, 8060 machines, and the problem hasn't resurfaced on a single machine. I'm tickled pink....or should i say magenta...

Well, it seems to be fixed now. We replaced the developer and new toner at the same time with OEM products, and we should have seen the problems twice by now, and haven't heard from the client at all. We are talking to the 3rd party toner vendor right now, as the SAME THING just happened to another client! So much for saving a little on supplies....we have paid more now getting everything replaced!

I have seen this problem only with non-oem drums on the 35-60cpm models. The 30cpm and lower machines do fine with non-oem drums.
