    Panasonic dp3010 copy quality issue

Hey all, got a problem with this machine that I could use some advice on. Went out to replace toner (with OEM toner) & decided to clean, blow out machine as it was dirty. Put everything back in & copies went bad, dirty. If you open up the side, the drum is very dirty looking. I took out the cartridge & rotated the drum, the cleaning blade is cleaning well & the drum looked good. Put it back in, made copies, they got bad instantly & drum is dirty/toned up again. It appears the toner that was in it was aftermarket, could putting OEM toner in cause a problem? I cleaned it well, so ground connections should be o.k.. I have access to an entire drum/dev. assy from a 3030 that is in pristine condition, so I was thinking of swapping out to see if a difference, but I'm a little worried about messing up the good assy if something else is wrong. Has anyone ever seen bad OEM toner from panasonic? thanks in advance.

Panasonic has had some OEM toner issues resulting in formulation changes tied into firmware updates. As a result 3rd party mfg. have had problems matching their products. When you mix toners in the developer problems can result. You may have seen the bulletin re:black vs blue label toner for the bigger machines.
What I would do is replace the developer regardless of what life is left (be sure to thoroughly vacuum dev unit) and perform F8-09 followed by F8-14 which will reset the counters on both the developer and drum. If you can, make sure firmware is current though that model has only had 1 update if I remember correctly. If your problem is solved but the copies are dark you might want to increase the value of F6-21 in increments of 5 to get the density right to avoid future premature dev failure. Good Luck

Thanks for the info. No, I didn't get the bulliten as I don't really work on Panasonics. This is the only one I service, (had to take over service when putting in a KM2550) so at least they have another machine to use while I order the dev. Have to admit, I thought it was a little dumb to post this asking about bad OEM toner, but I just couldn't see where anything else could have caused it. Guess I was right, though. Bad thing is, if I had ordered aftermarket toner like they had before, I never would have had a problem. Trying to do the right thing screwed me.

Also make sure the doctor blade gap is set at .6 to .7 mm (the equivalent of a credit card thickness).Th.

I went out & replaced the dev. & did the dev. set up, that seems to have fixed the problem. Amazing, putting OEM toner in it caused this problem. I have to say, I REALLY don't care for the panasonic brand. High cost, low yeild parts & weird problems do not a fun day make.
