I have a (VERY CHEAP) customer (aren't they all?) who complains about how much labor costs him. The local Panasonic dealer has closed and the customer turned to us. I'm not familiar with this copier but we try to help anyone who wants us. I have determined that the toner bottle is not rotating. The latch releases the bottle but it doesn't turn. All the other gears in the hopper are turning. If I understand the mechanism properly, the gear that turns the bottle is on the same shaft that operates the release latch. Have you seen this before? I'm inclined to replace the toner bottle feed gear and clutch components. I would like to avoid another service call for him just to take this unit apart and inspect the clutch/gear without having the repair parts with me. Good advice greatly appreciated.

Re: Dp-3530 toner supply failure
in my experience with these units, its best to replace the hopper, instead of going back multiple times with more and more piecesComment

Re: Dp-3530 toner supply failure
I agree with Mandingo, just replace the whole hopper unit to prevent multiple trips. It can be taken off and a new one put on in less than 10 minutes and better than wasting the customers time and money chasing a problem.Comment

Re: Dp-3530 toner supply failure
Here is the easiest way to fix 90+% of your toner supply issues with any of these Panasonics. The problem is not the sensor inside the hopper, or the developer sensor, or the toner hopper or the motor. It's the angle of the toner bottle. If you install a shim to the fuser unit cover, somewhere between the white rollers, and raise the rear end of the toner bottle up about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch, run about 40 copies, and walk out the door. I used to use a tightly rolled up piece of paper, and some scotch tape. We had an epidemic of these when we went to aftermarket toner (a few with OEM toners also were fixed by this method). I would confidently say that this fixed 95% of all the toner supply problems I have seen since I started with this repair.Comment
