Re: Panasonic dp3010 won't turn on show display for 10 second and shuts off

It's been a long time since I've worked on those models so please forgive me if my memory doesn't serve well here.. lol ..
Have ya tried checking the incoming power to see if you may be getting some sort of undervoltage or voltage drop situation when a load is applied..? More than likely it is alright, but ya never know..
-- After ya have determined that your incoming power is good, I'd try opening the doors and powering the machine on with doors open.. 10 seconds is about long enough for the internal components to start turning and to try to bring the machine to a "ready" state.. By opening the doors, you will be cutting the 120 volt supply to the fuser and your process & developing assemblies won't be functioning either.. If the machine comes on and stays on longer than the 10 seconds that it has been, then ya may have something arcing internally with the fuser unit, high voltage pwb, process unit, contacts, etc..
-- If it still does does the 10 seconds and shuts off with the doors open, I would remove the back cover and clean / reseat all connectors on all the boards.. I'm wanting to say that there a couple of Dimms on the boards as well.. If so, I would remove them and clean the contacts on them as well.. I know on some Panasonics I use to work on, one of the dimms would be labeled as "Boot Rom" (usually found on the main pwb).. I can't remember if this model had dimms on the boards or not but I would still reseat and clean everything on the PWB's..

    Hope it helps, Good Luck..

update the firmware. Panasonic has its own propriety flash cards or memory cards and you will need to get the firmware put on these cards and boot the machine with it. When you boot the machine the panel will still be blank and you will have to be patient and leave it for about 30min. The machine should reboot by itself when done.
To put the firmware on the cards you will have to use the pansonic local f/w writing tool and a panasonic fax or copier machine with a parallel port. the f/w should fix this problem as i have done this a couple of times

        ftp://ftp.udpcorp.com/Device%20Drive.../Firmup_OI.pdf

The link is only the instructions. you will need the panasonic cards, i believe a 4mb will do or check the service manual, it will tell you the requirements. also you will need another panasonic machine, a fax machine will do, but one that supports the memory size. you will also need the f/w update tool software and the firmware itself.

let us know the solutions as others may run into this also.

I think it is the switch on the left hand side of the machine. This machine has 2 power switches, one at the back by the power cord, the other is on left side of the machine above tray 1.

If the machine have f/w problem, it will keep rebooting, and wont stop, but in your case, it lights up and shuts off.

another cause can be the hard drive, but it is an option, so not all machine have it. hard drive will cause rebooting, but won't shut off after 10 secs.

Pana Tech made some good points that is worth looking into. yes there are two switches one at the back where the power cord plugs into and one on the left hand side. The one at the back should be turned on first and then the one on the left hand side.
But i have seen where the machine will display the screen for a second and then go blank. actually the machine has not really shud down, but gone into some loop and hangs there. F/w update should be done first i recommend.

Switch and Firmware are quick and easy. I agree. Try pushing on the switch. I had a 4520 doing the same thing and it was the switch on the front. Let us know what you find.
