Go into F1-23 service mode and print test pattern 21. This will run full coverage from the K drum only. It is usually the drum surface that goes bad. The IT belts are very reliable on these units. You could also pull the K drum and shine your flashlight inside to look at the mag roll on the DV unit.
I had a DPC the other day throw me for a loop. I had a small faded area near the front of the machine. After chasing all kind of ideas, the problem was toner on the slit/dust proof glass of the laser unit. 30 years in the business and I still forget about KISS.
It happened to me couple times, but mostly it had sth to do with the dev unit. for some reason, there is a 2mm wide area on the mag roller not having toner on it. I normally do F8-09 to try to get rid of it, but sometimes it didn't work and end up replacing the dev.

Had one last week with about a 5-10 mm wide void. Found a ball of lint in the dev unit. Vacuumed dev unit and replaced developer and all was good. This machine had original developer and unit. Where did the lint come from? Only the shadow knows.
