    DPC354

The PM checklist says to replace the developer and the developer units at 480K. My question is: Has anyone replaced just the developer without changing the units? If so, how did that work out? I prefer to do what the manufacture says, but I need information as to why it is a good or bad idea to deviate from specs. for my boss.

Yes, we go easily 800k with same dev units. we replace them only if necessary.

We run our dev units to failure. Could be 600k, might be 800k.
The decision to not replace on schedule is based on the cost savings involved.
But if I think it needs a new dev unit, it gets a new dev unit.

If it fail, it could pop error code, but u will probably see light copies first. Those mag rollers are very durable. even if you see light copies, I would go F8-09 first w/o replacing anythings, if it still does it after, then replace the developer. I always go with the cheapest part first.
